🚗 1. Squealing or Screeching When Braking

Likely Cause:

• Worn-out brake pads.

• Glazed pads or rotors.

• Dust or rust buildup on the rotors.

Fix:

• Replace brake pads.

• Resurface or replace rotors if damaged.

• Clean brake components and apply anti-squeal compound.

🧰 Tip: If the sound disappears after a few stops, it’s likely light surface rust — not serious.

Likely Cause:

• Brake pads completely worn out, metal rubbing on metal.

• Loose or worn serpentine belt.

• Failing belt tensioner or pulley bearing.

• Power steering pump low on fluid.

Fix:

• Replace or tighten the belt.

• Top up power steering fluid (use correct type).

• Replace bad pulley or pump if noise continues.

• Using low-octane fuel.

• Carbon buildup in combustion chamber.
